I was lucky to have Max Ginsburg and Irwin Greenberg as painting teachers at the High School of Art and Design, NYC, before they moved over to the School of Visual Arts were I continued with Max there. He later lent me his reference to do a romance cover sample as seen here. Oil on illustration board. I studied with Steven Assael, Marvin Mattelson, Garin Baker, and many others in SVA, BFA, 1992.

I painted and drew from life since Elementary School. Did hundreds of drawings and sketches from life! I cannot stress the importance of working from nature as much as possible. It’s the effort to truly learn to see that counts. There are invaluable critical lessons you will use in all your future work. All this experience informs my current Abstract works! Here is a sketch from 1992. Teacher : Max Ginsburg Oil on illustration board.

Working on Loopy, Jeff Koons, oil on canvas, at Sonnabend Gallery when it was in Soho in 1999. We got to paint many works the way I love to work, quickly with a big brush! These were so much fun.

In 1996 I started working for Jeff Koons and later that year became the painting studio manager for 5 years. The Koons experience lasted 23 years. The Celebration series was fun because I got to create the drawing breakdowns like this paint by numbers painting, Ribbon. oil on canvas.
